Where We’re Going
Our Newport Beach and San Diego Pickleball Trip combines sunshine, coastal scenery, local culture, and plenty of pickleball across two of Southern California’s most celebrated seaside destinations.
We’ll begin with six nights at VEA Newport Beach, A Marriott Resort & Spa, where ocean-view rooms are reserved for our group and our outdoor pickleball courts are just five minutes away. Newport Beach is Mike’s hometown, and we’ll experience the area through its harbor and waterfront neighborhoods, Balboa Island, a harbor cruise, a hands-on California cooking experience, and a special coastal gathering. We’ll also venture beyond Newport for a full day in Laguna Beach and a visit to historic Mission San Juan Capistrano.
We’ll then travel south for three nights at a waterfront hotel in San Diego. Along with more pickleball, we’ll explore the city’s maritime history aboard the USS Midway, visit beautiful Balboa Park, and experience the waterfront, Seaport Village, and lively Little Italy. We’ll also cross the bay to Coronado Island, known for its wide beaches, historic Hotel del Coronado, and quintessential Southern California charm, before celebrating our final evening together.

10-Day Newport Beach & San Diego Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Southern California! Transportation will be provided from Santa Ana / John Wayne Airport (SNA) to our Newport Beach hotel. After time to settle in, we’ll meet on the courts for an afternoon welcome pickleball session. That evening, we’ll gather for introductions and our Welcome Dinner as we begin a week of pickleball, coastal experiences, and new friendships.
Day 2: After breakfast and morning pickleball, we’ll begin exploring Mike’s hometown. Our Newport Beach experience introduces the harbor, waterfront neighborhoods, and the relaxed coastal lifestyle that defines the area before we continue to Balboa Island for a leisurely walk, local shops, cafés, and views across the bay. The evening is free to choose one of Newport’s many restaurants.
Day 3: We’ll start with another morning pickleball session, then travel south to Mission San Juan Capistrano. Founded in 1776, the mission is one of California’s most important historic landmarks, with beautiful gardens, fountains, courtyards, and centuries-old architecture. Our tour guide will bring its fascinating history and cultural significance to life as we explore the mission together. Afterwards we’ll enjoy lunch in historic downtown San Juan Capistrano, followed by time to stroll through the charming Los Rios Historic District, with its centuries-old adobe homes, gardens, boutiques, and cafés, before returning to Newport Beach.
Day 4: After an early pickleball session, today is devoted to Laguna Beach, one of Southern California’s most beautiful and distinctive coastal towns. We’ll explore dramatic oceanfront bluffs and coves, walk scenic coastal paths, discover the community’s artistic heritage, and enjoy time for galleries and boutiques. Time for lunch and a special beachside experience make this a memorable full day by the Pacific.
Day 5: Following morning pickleball, the afternoon is yours to relax or explore—enjoy the hotel, visit Fashion Island, take a beach walk, or return to Balboa Island. Later, we’ll come together for a hands-on California cooking experience and enjoy the dinner we prepare together.
Day 6: After our morning pickleball session, we’ll experience Newport from the water on a narrated harbor cruise. Along the way, we’ll see waterfront estates, luxury yachts, picturesque islands, and the working harbor while learning about the local history and coastal lifestyle. The remainder of the afternoon allows time to enjoy Newport Beach at your own pace. That evening, we’ll gather for our Farewell Dinner and celebrate an unforgettable week together.
Day 7: After breakfast we say goodbye to Newport Beach and take a private bus south to San Diego (90 minutes) where we begin our 3 day visit to one of Southern California’s most vibrant and beautiful cities. We’ll enjoy an afternoon of pickleball and a dinner together along the waterfront.
Day 8: Pickleball in the morning, and after lunch we’ll have a guided tour of San Diego which will include the Seaport Village, Balboa Park, and Coronado Island. Then free time and dinner on your own to enjoy the charm of the city.
Day 9: After morning pickleball and time for lunch, we’ll enjoy a guided visit to the USS Midway Museum, a historic aircraft carrier docked along San Diego’s waterfront. Explore life aboard the ship, see the aircraft on the flight deck, and discover a remarkable piece of U.S. naval history. That evening, we’ll gather for our farewell dinner by the water, with beautiful views of the city.
Day 10: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before saying goodbye to San Diego. Transportation will be provided to San Diego International Airport (SAN) according to departure schedules as we head home with memories of the California charm and beach vibe, coastal discoveries, pickleball, and new friends.

Pricing & Payment
10-Day / 9-Night Trip
Pricing – $5,290 per traveler in a shared room; $6,390 for a private single room.
Limited Group – This trip is limited to 20 travelers.
Deposit – A 20% deposit is required to reserve your place on the trip. The deposit is applied toward the total trip price.
Final Payment – The remaining balance is due 60 days before the trip start date.
Currency – All prices are in United States dollars (USD)
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your reservation, the following amounts are non-refundable:
91+ days before the trip start date – $200
61–90 days before the trip start date – 30% of the total trip price
31–60 days before the trip start date – 60% of the total trip price
30 days or fewer before the trip start date – 100% of the total trip price
